Alligators are dark, almost black, with a broad U-shaped snout. They live across the Southeast. Crocodiles are lighter grayish-olive, with a narrow V-shaped snout and lower teeth that show when the mouth is closed. In the US they're found only in South Florida and the Keys. Caimans are smaller and non-native, with a bony ridge between the eyes. They're mostly found around Miami.
